In this published piece for the University of Puerto Rico Law Journal (In Rev), Vivo Alliance explores the urgent need for reform in how Puerto Rico handles sexual assault cases—beginning with the critical issue of forensic DNA evidence. This article, based on our legal research initiative with UPR law students, and examines systemic deficiencies in the island’s forensic process and proposes actionable solutions drawn from best practices across the U.S. and international jurisdictions.
